About cosmetic acupuncture
Have a snack or small bite to eat prior to your session. Try to avoid fasting or heavy meals beforehand.
A clean and clear face is a must for cosmetic acupuncture. If you are unable to arrive to your appointment with a clean face, no worries! Cleanser and makeup remover is available at the studio.
The ideal candidate for cosmetic acupuncture is someone who is in good health and wants to naturally elevate both their complexion and overall health.
If you are experiencing pain or any active illness, it is advised to address those concerns first. The interior environment impacts the exterior, and cosmetic acupuncture may not be as effective.
Anyone of any age is suitable to get cosmetic acupuncture, however different age groups will see different results.
Cosmetic acupuncture is safe for most people, however there are a few individuals who may not be a suitable candidate.
Cosmetic acupuncture is contraindicated in these cases:
- pregnancy
- active , severe, and uncontrolled chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disorders, seizure epilepsy, etc
- severe and frequent migraines, headaches, dizziness, or vertigo. Those who experience migraines and headaches from time to time may be a potential candidate, however please consult with Karlee prior to booking
- on a high dosage of blood thinning medication or have a bleeding/clotting disorder
- acute illness like the common cold or flu, allergic attack
- active skin infection or herpes outbreak
After the first session, you may notice a decrease in puffiness and a brighter complexion.
After multiple sessions, you will start to see more obvious improvements, including the fading of fine lines and an overall more lifted appearance of the face.
After several months of consistent treatment, deeper and more stubborn wrinkles will become less noticeable, jowls and sagging will appeared more lifted, and the complexion will look firmer and overall more sculpted, as the body begins to naturally produce more elastin and collagen.
Many factors must be considered when it comes to results - an individual's age, genetics, diet, stress levels, lifestyle habits, and overall health will impact the type of results we see with cosmetic acupuncture.
Cosmetic acupuncture results are cumulative and the length of the results widely depend on your treatment protocol and lifestyle habits. We continue to age naturally, so maintenance and healthy habits are key for sustainable results.
For younger individuals in their 20s and 30s, a monthly maintenance treatment may only be required to maintain healthy skin and and support collagen production.
For older individuals or those who have deeper damage to their skin, a more aggressive treatment protocol may be required to see more prominent results. This may look like 10 consecutive sessions, one session per week, with monthly maintenance treatments afterwards.
The treatment plan will vary depending on the current state of your skin in addition to your skincare goals.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a very gentle and non evasive treatment, so the downtime is minimal.
You may have a red or flushed complexion immediately following treatment due to increased blood and qi flow to the face. This will dissipate shortly. Small and minor bruising at the needle site is not uncommon and will last for a day or two.
It is advised to relax and avoid any strenuous physical activity immediately after receiving cosmetic acupuncture. (You probably won't want to anyway, the treatment is very calming and relaxing :)
Avoid applying heavy makeup to the face (like foundation) and avoid saunas, steam rooms, or exposure to harsh weather conditions immediately after treatment. You may continue with your regular skincare routine that night.
Botox and cosmetic acupuncture work in completely different ways.
Botox temporarily relaxes or freezes the muscles, preventing it from contracting, and therefore preventing creasing of the skin. This results in a smoother appearance. Cosmetic acupuncture works in the opposite way. It invigorates and reduces tension in the muscles, while also stimulating circulation and collagen production. Results will become more apparent with regular treatment.
Different methods will yield different results. Botox will produce more drastic and immediate results, while cosmetic acupuncture will produce more subtle results with time. One method is not better than the other, it just depends on your treatment goals and timeline.

Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural, inside-out approach to skin health and aging. Using fine needles placed on the face and body, treatments support circulation, collagen production, and overall balance - helping your skin look brighter, firmer, and more refreshed over time. It’s not about freezing or changing your face, but supporting your skin, health, and nervous system, resulting in a well-rested and glowing version of yourself. Sessions are deeply relaxing and often support various other imbalances or issues including jaw or facial tension, headaches, digestion, sleep and stress along the way.
